Blip Meet
There are needles and needles and I’m not talking about the knitting ones with which I have had an affection throughout my life since the age of 5. No I’m talking medical needles that range in size to meet all eventualities from vaccinations to dental numbing (where the dentist appears to hide the needle size behind their back until the last moment to avoid panic) and today the appearance of a long one to effect a steroid injection to my poorly knee. I shut my eyes for about 4seconds and it was over. Now to see if it has worked, hopefully for as long as I’m in Orkney
Before that, my school friend and I had our monthly coffee in the Ivy on the Square when we devoured a modest plate of toast and marmalade while we watched tourists demolishing huge plates of full Scottish breakfasts. One day perhaps we’ll throw caution to the wind and indulge as well. But today was not that day.
During the afternoon I really enjoyed meeting Tryfan46 and his wife who are staying in Edinburgh for 4days. They gamely walked to Quartermile to meet me and my newly injected knee and we had a lovely 2 hours getting to know each other. I briefly met P at the slip in Stromness in May but had only time then for a brief hello, so we corrected that today. I hope to meet them again when they are up at New Year and I look forward to that. Thank you both for making the effort to meet me on my patch.
