Costa del Porty
When a heat wave or even a succession of sunny warm days descend upon this normally grey dreich northern land, there is no point in carrying on life as normal. It’s a case of down tools and a life of sloth stretched out on a chair on the patio. We know it won’t last so why would you want to be indoors unless you must be. Normal life will be guaranteed to resume far too quickly.
With sunshine from the get go the daughter and I made an early entry into the sea clad in our black stinger suits and looking for all the world like members of a restrictive religious sect while noting some other swimmers just in cozzies and no shoes or gloves. Not one jelly fish was even spied, dead or alive. For that, the daughter was much gratified.
I’m sitting on the patio in the company of Princess and the Pea my avocado babies. Who needs a dog if you can have the pleasure of watching the plants looking so happy in the sun. They do seem to love a bit of sunshine and a mild breeze to ruffle their leaves. They are doing so well as is Piddles but I seem to have left him inside for no good reason.
The Meadows is sporting a covering of supine sun worshippers while in the distance there is the insistent throb of drumming. It comes with the territory as do the barbecues, although it’s not quite time for the latter to fire up yet.
I am happy in my sunshiny slothfulness- long may it last. Having a well thumbed bus pass is not all bad news.
