Hastings and Mr Doodle

Our visit to Edinburgh was an add on after the Lakes, we didn’t know if we were going or not until well after the signalman’s roster was published. Which is why I was at Wittersham Road the day after that long trip down.

It was a busy, hot humid day with problems with signalling equipment caused by a lightning strike yesterday evening, late running trains, unusual crossing moves, bells not working and an intermittent fault on a set of points. With the aid of a learner we got though to the end only 15 minutes down on the day.

Have you heard of Mr Doodle? https://mrdoodle.com/. The railway secured a scoop for the summer holidays by engaging Mr Doodle to completely doodle both sides of one of our carriages. The carriage had been shrink wrapped in vinyl for his doodling.

Hundreds of people came to watch Mr Doodle at work and purchase some of his wares. The carriage will continue in service with children getting Mr Doodle stuff to do on their journey.

What great fun.
