Dahlia

Hubby had to be at church by 7:30 to help carry tables, chairs, etc to the site of our parish picnic. He said there was quite a crowd. He came home for a while and then went back to transport everything again. The storm arrived before he got to the parish center so he was soaking wet when he got home. I had breakfast on the front porch while he was gone for the first trip. Then I decided to put up the fencing across the front garden to contain the black eyed Susans that were sprawling across the sidewalk. It felt cooler than it has been. Hubby gathered the leaves and debris I’d cut off and dumped them. I have several dahlias in pots in the front garden. This one caught my attention, such a dark stunning color. By the time we got back inside, we were soaked with sweat. The humidity was awful. But it looks so much better. And we were refreshed as soon as we had showers. I tidied up the house during his second trip. Mancil and Madi stopped by to bring thank you gifts for watching Shadow. Kim stopped at the Maine store where, during our 2016 trip, we found one of hubby’s favorite spicy mustards. She brought him a few jars. I now have the cutest house dress for my cat naps. Madi has a new puppy and needs a sturdy indoor enclosure for her. We gladly gave her one that is almost brand new; had it for the grand dogs. We ate the second homemade pizza for lunch/dinner. It’s Kindle time. Hope you had a restful Sunday. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “August is ripening grain in the fields blowing hot and sunny, the scent of tree-ripened peaches, of hot buttered sweet corn on the cob. Vivid dahlias fling huge tousled blossoms through gardens and joe-pye-weed dusts the meadow purple.” - Jean Hersey
