Jonathan at Gorie

A beautiful sunny day, lovely and warm.  Cloudy and windy this evening.

Up fairly early for a Sunday, got washing out after breakfast.  A morning puttering about the house.  Mam and Laura picked me up after noon.  We caught the ferry to Bressay, lunch at the Speldiburn café, then headed to the open garden day.  Popped by Madeline's on my evening walkies.  A fine lazy evening at home.

Sadly we didn't make many open gardens, just the one in fact.  There was a mixup with our order at the café, which delayed lunch, but the wait was worth it.  Next stop was a mile walk in over the hill, where we were welcomed by Jonathan Wills. He had the teapot ready, almost like he wad expecting us.  He told us about the history of his croft house here, along with many other stories, a walk around the garden and greenhouse, then a walk into the small woods.  Sadly our time ran out, tome for the ferry home again.  I hope they have the open garden day again next year, there's more I'd like to see.  Sadly I didn't catch the story behind this old bell Jonathan's ringing.  I did catch him saying his dad rescued it, from a town in England.  Jonathan at Gorie, Grimsetter, Bressay.
