A little story …

Here’s the latest recently installed public service … a Turvec Bike Repair Station. However, already it’s been vandalised (you are seeing it having been fixed this morning).

This relates to some public disorder we saw at the toilets yesterday (thankfully, nothing to do with the other horrendous stuff going on in other places).

No, this was where a group of about 30-40 youngsters had congregated by the public toilets, vandalising them in the process, before going on to use ripped out aforementioned Turvec Bike Repair Station to barricade one of their number into the disabled toilets, as a laugh, apparently.

Upshot, 6 police attended, rescued the lad (who refused to ‘grass up’ the kids who had put him in the toilet, after all, it was only a laugh) from the barricaded toilet. The toilets are closed now due to the vandalism. Apparently, the kids got a talking too and were moved on.

Since when did it become the norm, that this type of behaviour was acceptable. As I write this I am thinking of the Broken Windows Theory. Anyway, I am so irritated by this, that I have dashed off letters to our two new MPs …. Just call me ‘Disgruntled of Tunbridge Wells’.

Rant over … fingers crossed that the Turvec Bike Repair Kit doesn’t get vandalised again and that it becomes very useful to the many cyclists who set from here to go down the East Lothian coast.

Thanks for listening, and have a good day.
