"The Thistledown's Flying"

When I see thistledown on the breeze a feeling of melancholy comes over me. It's not autumn yet but the signs that it's on its way are mounting. John Clare captured it perfectly in his poem Autumn. I was sitting in the front garden waiting for the brown argus butterfly to take flight and listening to the sounds of the harvest when I shot this thistle pappus in the air with the hedge in the background.

I've added another image of the brown argus and a female small white, the first I've photographed this season, to extras.
