Dance of the dolphins
We had a relaxed morning enjoying the pool and easy time upstairs in the apartment and then early afternoon, we set off by car towards the harbour to catch a boat trip.
We were on a catamaran and it wasn’t too full. The crew were good fun. We motored out to sea in search of dolphins and whales. Dolphins were more likely but by no means certain.
But the crew spotted them and we headed towards them. I don’t think I’ve seen dolphins flip and dance and play at sea before. I felt so emotional and couldn’t help the little tears of joy. There were about 7 of them and they didn’t swim away. They put on a fantastic display for us and it was fabulous. A one-off. They jumped so so high and at one point swam below water not far from the boat.
Once the crew decided to leave them, we headed further out and saw very very briefly a Pygmy Sperm Whale who dived deep as we approached, which is apparently what they always do when they feel the boat engine vibrations.
The boat then headed towards land so we could all dive off the boat and enjoy sea swimming. Lush. They even threw in some fish food to bring them in close. Loved it. Loved it.
After our 3 hours at sea, we returned, headed home, had showers and went out for pizza. Another fab holiday day.
No photos of the dolphins as I was too enthralled watching. SkyeMan has some video which, when he’s edited it, I might add an extra.
