A cooler day for
us but a taste of smoke in
the air - I will hide!

I pushed the bins out onto the street for collection, then I was on my way to McArthur Island just before 6. It was a lovely 18 C with a bit of a breeze and some smoke in the air colouring our sunrise.

I parked near the footbridge and had a walk to the other side of the slough. The sun has that reddish look on the horizon.

I got a shot of the slough looking west from the bridge. One lovely duck caught my attention. The breeze rippled the surface of the slough.

I moved over to the south side of the island on the lookout for marmots. There was a brisk wind out of the west making some whitecaps on the river.

I had to wait for a marmot to pop its head up from the river bank. They always pose so sweetly for me. They must know that I'm slow with fumbly fingers. I got a few poses then headed for home.

As I was driving into my garage, I looked up to see one of our neighbourhood chukars up on my neighbour's roof. It stood there for the longest time while I fidgeted with my camera.

I'm home for the day. There will be a handyman plus a plumber in the house today. I might hope to get some paperwork done in the midst of all the activity.
