Celluloid Heroes

Relative visiting day in Chester today. But because there was no Blackadder rehearsal tonight, we decided to travel later and then stay down after visiting so we could go and see a film at the big Vue cinema at Cheshire Oaks. Briefly considered Despicable Me 4 but settled on Deadpool & Wolverine.
After the “joy” of two hospital visits, gratuitous violence, foul language and deadpan humour was just what was required to make me feel better! If you could ignore the somewhat fanciful plot (I use the word “plot” in its loosest possible sense) the film was most enjoyable. Same formula as the previous Deadpool movies, but with even more asides to camera, cameo appearances and references to the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A quick burger after the film and we set off home. Still daylight when we left, not raining, light traffic and just missing the M6 overnight closures meant that we were home in a very decent time and are now enjoying a much needed cup of tea before bed. And we’ll need that early night because it’s PT in the morning!
