The mighty oak

The largest leaf, on which the others are resting is 11" in length x 8" wide. Every time I pass this tree on the footpath entering the village it amazes me by the size of its mature leaves. I believe it might be a Pin oak (Quercus pallustris) as it does'nt shed it's leaves in Winter even after they have turned brown. The retention of dead leaves is called marcescence.
