On This Day

The end of an era

The girls arrived with some goodies*  this morning. This is the last regular Wednesday childminding before school starts. The nine year old will be going into P5 and the five year old into P1. For the past eight years, since the now nine year old was one, we have had one or other, or both,  girls here on Wednesdays. Apart from lockdowns and holidays it's been  a regular routine

I must admit to finding it discombobulating. It's been such a privilege to look after the girls and I'll miss them so much. But it's as it should be of course and I know how lucky I am to have been able to be involved in their care. And I'll still have them during school holidays and one day a week after school. All the same it's a milestone. Feels like another retirement.

I'm not quite at retirement stage though. My grandson will be here on Monday so I can't hang up my spurs just yet.

Nasty weather. We're taking the girls out for an end of holiday lunch then I have a small gift for each of them to wish them luck with their transition to being at school together.
