We all made it out together today!… woohoo!

We drove to Le Crotoy to catch the little steam train that takes you around the bay of the Somme to Saint Valery sur Somme.  The journey takes about an hour, part of that is the wait whilst the engine is turned on a turntable to change our direction.

We aimed to get lunch straight away (before they all closed).  We stopped at one of the first restaurants but it was so hot that we asked to be moved inside where it was marginally cooler.  Once we had eaten we all went our separate ways to explore.  I think Sim & Nat spent most of their time in a cafe/bar to keep the boys cool.  Mr C and I bumped into the others on our way.

We walked along the promenade and watched a shepherd on the opposite side of the banks with his three dogs move the sheep, who graze on the salt marshes, into the bay where, I imagine, they enjoyed the cooling waters.  There was also a seal basking in the sunshine too.

Mr C and I had a cold drink before meandering back to meet the others to catch our train back.

Once back at Le Crotoy we, along with Bex, Josh & Natalie, drove into town to look for a restaurant for tomorrow evening.  A nice small town with a bit of a buzz about it.  We also discovered a house where Jules Verne lived and photos of the artist Toulouse-Lautrec having a poop on the beach when he stayed with a friend (extras).

A somewhat hot but nice day out.
