Whistling Sands…

After yesterday’s very strange weather (warm thick fog!) we woke to blue skies and bright sunshine. A perfect day for meeting up with friend (and ex-blipper) Karen and her husband Alan.

Knowing how busy it gets, Karen had wisely booked a table months ago at The Potted Lobster in Abersoch, and we met them there at 1.00pm.

Karen came and stayed with us for a short break in 2019, and so much has happened since then. As we waved her off at Edinburgh airport five years ago we could never have foretold the events about to unfold within a year!

Karen hasn’t blipped for a while and although we keep in touch online, it was wonderful to get together in person. Always lovely when conversations continue as though no time has elapsed between them. And absolutely top quality food to accompany our chat. If you ever find yourself fortunate enough to visit Abersoch then we can definitely recommend the Potted Lobster.

Lunch over we ran Karen and Alan back to their camper van, which was in a very lovely campsite, and stayed a while to chat some more. Karen and Alan very kindly gave us a beautiful bottle of Welsh Gin from their local distillery. Orange marmalade flavour. Fortuitously my course of antibiotics finished last night. Very well timed! :-))

We left them to enjoy the evening sunshine and headed back to the cottage.

As it approached 8pm the sky was still clear with only a little cloud so got in the car and headed along to Whistling Sands a stunning beach just a couple of minutes from the cottage. There were only a couple of cars in the car park when we arrived but three more arrived just after us, and it became clear I wasn’t the only one who’d thought about capturing the sunset.

It’s such a stunning beach that not even the band of cloud that formed on the horizon line preventing a cloud free sunset, could dampen my enthusiasm for being out there enjoying the experience.

The other sunset chasers were scattered along the beach and as ever I regretted not having the courage to ask any of them if they were blippers when we passed each other in the car park. Will search blip instead :-))

Back to the cottage and very much enjoyed a glass of the Aberfalls orange marmalade gin. Thank you Karen! :-))

Finished the evening off watching Mission Impossible 2. I’m a huge fan of Scottish actor Dougray Scott so I was kinda rooting for the bad guy! :D
