Azania

I took the first ferry back from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam, to avoid being egregiously offline in the middle of the day. On one hand it was very chilled with a solitary 6am walk through the eerily deserted streets of Stone Town and a relatively smooth journey. On the other, I had a kid resting his head on my leg whilst he vomited into a sick bag.

After a day in the office, I collected Michelle from the terminal after her afternoon ferry. Dar es Salaam is vast so it usually takes an age to schlep between districts. I arrived around sunset and waited next to a bank. Across from my spot was the Azania Front Lutheran Church, one of the city centre’s most recognisable landmarks. It was built by German missionaries in the Bavarian style of the 1890s.
