Diary of an Edinburgher

New toy

I watched the climbing this morning. Not sure what the technical name for it is, but it was young women, climbing up a devious course, at times hanging vertically in mid air by two fingers (such was the overhang) stretching for the next finger or toe hold. Amazing strength!

Tomorrow is JR’s birthday, and I had secretly ordered an air fryer. She We I have always wanted one. And not just because of the ‘healthier’ chips! It arrived about midday. JR was delighted non-committal …

‘But we don’t have room for it!’

But I’d measured, and we yes did have room. Of course, what’s VERY annoying with appliances is they only give about 30cm flex! With strict instructions NOT to use an extension cord. But it fitted in!! JR was warming to the idea.

I have been checking out recipes all week, and I had an easy one ready. Archie and I went and did the shopping, while JR took a notion to tidy up the front garden.

It took me AGES! I kept not quite reading the instructions properly. And not being able to read the small print. All the buttons HAVE to be pressed in the right order (of course). But I got there. The best thing is that you can cook two different things, different timings, and you can set it that they both finish at the same time!! Just how GOOD is that!

Yes - chips, salmon, baby asparagus and peas. Very nice, if I say so myself. Especially the chips. JR is convinced.
