Nougat from Lübeck

The colourful mosaic of nougat and chocolate was a gift from A and S, my brother and sister-in-law, when we met in the park over a week ago, and today, having finished the last of the little cakes we made for the occasion, J and I started eating it. It's delicious! I think Niederegger is the most famous maker of Lübeck's iconic nougat, established in 1806. I remember the wonderful window displays in the shop from our visit in 2012. S grew up in nearby Travemünde, where my niece is now living and training as an apprentice goldsmith, and the freedom of retirement is allowing them to visit frequently, and to use the Dover route from time to time and meet up with us.

It was another day of helping J with activities and not getting round to photos. During my morning yoga class J edited yesterday's animated green screen clip, overlaying it on the background, so that she could share and discuss it with the film tutor during the weekly online film group session. It was a positive meeting and has encouraged us both to persevere.  Later in the day, I helped her to finish the digital drawing we began at Kearsney Abbey over a week ago, an impression of a silver birch, sketched as we sat in the shade; she wanted to print it to make a birthday card for S.  P likened it to some half cooked pastry with a spinach sauce leaking out of it. Look at the extra to judge for yourself. It's not very accomplished - we have a lot to learn about using the software, and I'm no longer very used to supporting J' jumpy hand when drawing, but J enjoyed it and I'm pleased we finished it.
