A pastoral scene

To friends in East Sussex this afternoon for afternoon tea and a game of silly cricket. This is a summer fixture in S & G's calendar and his brother and sister-in-law were there with their families, along with some mutual friends. I've know the family for nearly 70 years and it's great to see the grandchildren doing so well as they move through their teenage years.. The only sadness is that my dear friend Chris, the oldest of the three brothers, is no longer with us to share the enjoyment and pride in his family. It will be 5 years in October since we lost him to prostate cancer and it's a loss I still feel. The photo is a view from the top end of S & G's garden which they haven't tamed but has this glorious view over the fields.
