Northern Kin festival day one

Woke to grey skies but they soon cleared to a fabulous warm, sunny day. Our friend Stuart made it to the campsite we were on by just after 9 and I fired up the BBQ to make bacon rolls to fortify ourselves before heading off to join what we hoped would be a very short queue to get into the festival site.

Traffic was light and about 15 minutes after leaving the caravan campsite we were being waved into the entrance to the farm where the festival is being held. The site is a bit hilly and the grass is a bit stubbely to walk on in bare feet but it’s reasonable well organised. The caravan is level (ish) and we have a decent amount of space between our two vehicles.

We headed down to the main arena for opening time of 3pm and had a short wait before they opened the gates up and we got tagged with our wristbands.

A quick look around the merch stalls where I spotted the floral headbands. Thanks to BikerBear for hosting FlowerFriday. Over to the main outdoor stage to watch a band called nine blow zero. Fabulous set with lots of energy which really got us ready for the rest of the day. Highlights today were Alabama 3 and Starsailor and whilst The crazy world of Arthur Briwn didn’t really float my boat, he certainly knew how to put on a show which included wearing a flaming headdress. We stayed out until the chill in the air at 9.45 sent me back to the caravan. The boys followed about 30 minutes later. A great start to the weekend.
