Up the road

I’m feeding an extra cat this weekend - and this is the front garden of her humans. I took this late afternoon, when it was about 28c.  A bit much for me, but as it’s predicted to last only two days, I think I can grit my teeth and be stoical. As I think I mentioned before, I left long grass under the apple tree for Portia to lie in, and it’s her happy place on hot days.  You can see her blissed out in the extra. I wasn’t sure whether to show this - as both her tummy and the grass are very scruffy.  She won’t let me brush her tummy at all - though her back and sides look quite smooth. And the grass is scruffy because I don’t water it, and I let whatever wants to grow, grow.
I was down at my allotment early to get some work done before the heat arrived. It was actually lovely and I was the only one there for a while. I have a lavender bush on my plot as well as the edible stuff, and there were hundreds of bees. Honey and bumble.
Also I’ve been reading another ‘can’t put it down’ Ellie Griffiths novel, which meant I did less chores, more reading than planned.  Though I did clean my kitchen windows, which really needed doing
