RIP Bill
Hubby was up before 5:00. I forgot he was having an echocardiogram this morning. He came home, changed into a suit and left again. He had to be at the funeral home early since he was a pall bearer. I did a load of laundry, baked the ham and Renee’s ziti. I was starting to panic when I’d baked the ziti twice as long as the recipe said and it still wasn’t warm all the way through. Kim stopped by with her shrimp pasta salad. I was proud of my children. They generously made food even though they had not met Bill’s family. Kristen is nursing Chris and I really did not want to be near her after she was exposed to his COVID germs. I got to the church with about five minutes to spare and slipped into the pew with my sister and BIL. One of the Knights was coordinating the food; he offered to get everything out of my car which was a big help. The funeral home used this classic hearse for Bill who was a classic car enthusiast. His hot rod car club followed the hearse, in their antique shiny vehicles, in a long procession from the funeral home to the church. Father did a great job tying the readings to Bill’s life of service to God and neighbor, encouraging everyone present to follow Bill’s example. He was a quiet cheerful man who suffered much but continued to serve until his tragic accident. He would have turned 72 today. His niece gave the heartfelt eulogy. Such a tribute for someone who always put others’ needs ahead of his own. We helped clean up after the repast then came home and put the kitchen back in order. Our evening should be hassle free. Hope yours is also. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” – John Bunyan
