Extenda-Fenda
One of the problems with riding in the rain, and it's not getting wet because I've got good clothing, it's the muck and wet that gets kicked up by the front wheel. This collects on the frame, the chrome engine guard that I fitted and the pipes etc. that are in front of the engine.
This extender to the front mudguard will stop a lot of that, I'm hoping, and if it does it's job it will be worth every penny of the £24 it cost me.
I thought I'd fit it with the mudguard in place but, as the instructions told me, it would be nigh on impossible. As it happens it was very easy to remove the mudguard. The extender is rigid plastic in construction and has many incredibly sticky pads to hold it in place. In addition there were 4 pegs provided if you were brave enough to drill holes in the mudguard.
I found I had one hole in my mudguard, the purpose of which I'm totally in the dark, so I drilled a 4mm hole in the extender and used one of the pegs just to give it some additional security, although I'm pretty sure it wasn't particularly necessary.
Instructions also advised clamping the extender/mudguard for 12 hours. I'm leaving it for 24 hours, I'll refit the mudguard in the morning.
Now I'm looking forward to a long, wet, ride!
