Marshmallows, Frankfurters, VJ Day and a Gull
Spoilt for choice today for photographs.
We have rather a lot of small logs from when we cut down a Mayflower/Hawthorn tree and some of the Cherry Laurel at the back of our garden. It burned really well, and very hot. Marlane got some marshmallows and frankfurter sausages out and they were a great success, as can be seen with the girls photos.
For their evening meal they wanted 'Maccies' (McDonalds). I don't eat it myself but went to get them a couple of 'happy meals' and on the way out spotted the Gull on top of a ladies car. I thought of making that the main blip with a caption of "Give us your chips" but thought the girls were a better blip.
And then, in the evening, I went to the War Memorial, in Gloucester, where we were having a commemoration for VJ Day. The surrender was not signed until 2nd September but the hostilities stopped on the 15 August 1945, 79 years ago today.
It had only just stopped raining, and although I don't mind riding in the rain I decided that getting the bike filthy, and having to clean it, for a 2 mile ride just wasn't worth the hassle so I took the Hyundai, and wore my 'Lollipop Man' jacket, which is actually my Vulcan to the Sky hi-vis for when we were on airfields. Pinched one of someone else's photos for the one with me in it, thanks to Mark Paveley for allowing me to use it, although he doesn't actually know!
