Blue perfection...
A quiet day spent painting (the background colours on Mairi's slate and more colourful thistles) as well as some time in the garden late afternoon.
We are really enjoying the results of the new planting we did last year. Everything is thriving despite (or possibly because of) the rainy summer. We were lamenting the fact we've not been able to spend as much time in the garden this year. Hoping for a clement September so we might enjoy some time out there before autumn arrives. The rowan berries are already deep red. The blues of this hydrangea caught my eye. All my favourite colours in its petals. I suspect I will be tempted to paint this at some point. Or an abstract version of it.
We had a major spider related incident this evening. EEK!
One of Lola's many blankets was lying on the floor beside my chair. D was just about to sit down on the sofa and I was just about to stand up when Lola moved her blanket and THE biggest spider I've ever seen scurried out from under the blanket and ran over my foot!!!! I screamed a blood curdling scream, Lola barked and David jumped about 10 feet in the air! The spider was heading in his direction and he instinctively went into saviour mode and stamped on the damn thing! Boak! Normally we don't kill spiders, we (by we I mean D) carefully scoops them up and chucks them out the window/door and gently place them outside, but in that split second D assessed this as a kill-or-be-killed scenario and did what he had to do. I am still shuddering!
