Life is a Challenge!

WIDE WEDNESDAY - A TREASURE!

There are times when one has to admit that one’s partner is a “Treasure” and this was the case today.

Before I went out to meet a friend for coffee, and because we have had lots of magpies pecking on our conservatory roof, Mr. HCB decided that he would go up and clear out the gutters.

Not a pleasant job and some of the grunge he had in his bucket looked pretty awful, but it’s a job that needs doing on a regular basis.  I did tell him to be careful and made sure that he had almost finished before I left. I also told him to make sure he had his mobile with him, so that if he needed help for any reason, then he could call either me or a neighbour.

So here is my entry for Wide Wednesday this week - my “Treasure”.  I wonder how many others have a “real, live treasure” and especially one who sings whilst working "When I'm Cleaning Gutters"?

You might notice in the top of the shot one of those Christmas Candle bridges and you would be right in thinking it is still a while until Christmas, but it has been there for the last two years and stays lit all year especially for a friend of ours.  This particular friend is a Nurse who specialises in “End of Life” care and is, therefore, often out quite late at night.  She lives further on from where we live, but says that when she comes along the road and sees the lights twinkling out, especially for her, she knows that she is almost home.  I often wonder if anyone else notices!

We had our “laughter medication” last evening when I went off for my meeting to chat about involving the ladies in our Church - there didn’t seem to be much life at the house I went to, and having knocked the door quietly so as not to wake the children, and then ringing the bell, I decided to look at my WhatApp message - only to find that the meeting is NEXT Tuesday!  I have missed an important meeting in the past for a wedding rehearsal, when I was a Registrar, but never been a week early, but it did make both of us laugh, firstly when I rang Mr. HCB to tell him and then when I got home.  Another bonus though was I got to spend the evening with Mr. HCB, which is good as he is due to be at a cricket match tomorrow, Friday and Saturday - although he thinks that the weather might be a tad inclement!

I had a great time with my friend - with an hour of non-stop chat.  She was telling me about the Creative Writing Course she went on at a Marlborough College Summer School a few weeks ago so I told her I was “creaming off” the odd amounts in our bank account ready to book for next year - and said I already had over £90 - can’t wait!

Enjoy the rest of your day - the weather has changed since this morning and it now looks like rain here - often it doesn’t materialise, but the garden could do with it.
