Near miss
Another day of garden graft.
Raked the new crop of "hay" from the lawn I cut a second time yesterday. Then needed somewhere to put it.
In the spring I'd had a few potatoes left over after the main planting and I'd put them in a very skimpy patch of earth. So now I took them up and covered the whole patch of earth with a good layer of grass cuttings. Finally I settled down to the job I'd originally planned today and picked red currants to freeze in for winter. They get thawed and used on winter breakfasts to provide a deliciously sour taste note. Those hanging on stalks get added frozen to G&Ts, giving a dash of colour and keeping the drink cold.
In the middle of all this work we did take a break and sat outside with a cup of tea. The sky was turbulent and we watched a great dark mass of cloud go tumbling past while we sat in a patch of sun! Later we heard it had rained very hard under the cloud so we were happy it was a near miss for us.
