52 blocks

Having managed to complete the 52s for the last three years, I felt it would be a shame if I did not continue this year. However, I was not inspired by the idea of completing blocks of work on one huge piece of fabric, which was the idea.

I watched the videos each week, saw what others were doing, played around a bit, but didn’t know what to do with my pieces. Then I found an unused Khadi paper book - I used to use these for photo scrapbooks. I decided that was the answer - create the little pieces and put them in the book.

Now I’m trying to catch up. Taking each week’s starting point and then playing with scraps of fabric and thread and stitch.

These three are a sample - working with picot edging using buttonhole stitch (not easy), some straightforward running stitching and some trapping of bits (twigs in this case) with stitches and bullion knots.

One daughter is walking the St Swithun’s Way from Winchester to Farnham. The two of them have just arrived in Winchester (Winchester Cathedral . . . before her time I think!). And the dogs are staying with her sister in their flat in London . . . see extra - they’ve settled in well!
