Sally Mair - Loving life

Where've you bean!

Today's blip comes at the end of a bean free summer, finally we are going to have runner beans at a time when most people's are finished!
We went out to Dobbies today as I wanted to buy some Reiker shoes from the Pavers shop there, only to find that they are only available online. The good news is though that I can have them delivered there so that if they are not suitable I can return them instantly.
We went into the cafe for some lunch. Their system of waiting to be allocated a table was ridiculously slow. Less than half of the tables were occupied but we still had to wait in a queue for over 20 minutes to be shown to our seat . Two of the 6 couples in front of us gave up and went elsewhere and still it took so long. Once we were seated though the service was quick and the food good.
Having said that the coffee shop was even worse, with only two people serving behind the counter and a very long queue out of the restaurant door. Someone (probably not me) needs to find an alternative to individually produced cups of coffee!
It was one of those days! Our car, new to us last November, tells me it is due a service. I phoned the dealership as all service records are online now (supposedly). They plugged in my registration number and said that as I hadn't bought it from them the only detail on the system was the date and type of service. There was nothing about additional items like filter, brake fluid or spark plug changes (I didn't know modern cars still had spark plugs, they've never been mentioned before!). I would need to download an app for the info, but she'd create a profile for me. So I downloaded an app but it couldn't complete as there was an error! So... I contacted customer care as instructed. After 10 minutes of press this button, look at the screen on your car. Does it say this? No it didn't. Sorry they couldn't help as my car didn't have digital info connection (!*!). Here's another number to phone..... I phoned. It's an English bank holiday so no-one was available to take my call! Big breaths!
I contacted my sister in law from whom we bought the car. They are going to contact the garage, a main dealer who serviced the car under lease/warranty for 5 years to ask them to send the info to the main dealer here and to me. Someone must know what was done to the car and have access to the records, I'd have been happy with a paper service log which always worked fine up until now. I'm not holding my breath......tbc.....
