The blue pool
We dropped R at a carpark where there was a commemorative stone for Cormac's Haggard, a battle in 1262. Her plan was to walk up to The Devil's Punchbowl.
We then drove back down into the valley, where I'd seen a woodland walk. We parked, and set off following a rather mundane tarmacadam path. But then we saw a sign to "The Blue Pool Nature Trail". This was a little more challenging - some boardwalk, some rocky path, some good ups and downs. And eventually we came out at the blue pool - the blue colour being due to copper, apparently.
Once back at the car, we felt a need for a cuppa, and slummed it at The Muckross Hotel, (see extra) where we found tea and coffee in the bar. R by this time had messaged to say that she had had to abort her walk, and would be back at the meeting point a little earlier than expected. But we still had time after enjoying our cuppa, to walk to Muckross Abbey.
R had to abort largely because of conditions underfoot - she seemed to be walking up a stream bed!
We picked her up, then had lunch at the cafe by Muckross House. Afterward, we took a scenic route past Lough Guitane - but there was nowhere to stop. Coming back into Killarney, we passed an Antiques/Collectibles shop and stopped for a browse of their eclectic selection of items.
Once back at our accommodation, R put her walking shoes to dry, then went off for a wander around the town. In the evening, we had a meal largely eating up leftovers brought back from the last couple of meals out!
