An ordinary life....

Strawberry Fields For Heifer...

Up sharp and in the pool by 8am.  A great start to the day especially as I was looking out to blue skies and sunshine.  A rare sight in these here parts!

D and I had lunch at our local Cafe Kisa.  We always have the same thing when we go there, chicken strips with salad and fries for D and chicken dehli salad for me, but whilst D stuck to his usual I decided to try something different and had the Mexican chicken panini with Applewood smoked cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.  OMG, it was amazing!  Now I have a dilemma next time I go!

We were just about to have our food when our neighbour Isobel was seated at the table next to us.  A happy coincidence, and we had a lovely chat with her.

After lunch D and I headed to Perth to look at sofas in Gillies, a well known local furniture store.  Of all the sofas we've looked at, the first one we saw in Sterling at Tillicoultry has been top of the list, but we think the last sofa we looked at today beats it.

It's available in loads of different sizes (we have a large corner sofa and a chair in the garden room at the moment but would like to replace it with possibly a three seater, two seater and a chair) The sales woman was fabulous, giving us all the information we need and not at all pushy.  And it comes in loads of different fabrics.  Scatter cushions included in the price and foot stool and ottoman also available.  British made so delivery only six weeks.  Would have it before Christmas.

D golfing tomorrow but a part of Friday will be spent measuring the space to make sure what we want would fit.  We still have one shop in Glasgow we'd like to visit, just to satisfy our curiosity since it's a big purchase, but we've bought lots of furniture from Gillies in the past and have always been impressed with the quality and the service, and I would prefer to buy local, so the Glasgow shop would need to have something really special to sway us from this one.

As we left Gillies we spotted one of the coos on the Hairy Highland Coo Trail, opposite Perth Art Gallery.  This one is called Strawberry Fields For Heifer and was painted by Paulene Paterson. It is number twenty-one on the trail.  The coos can be seen until 6th September and we had intended to get round as many as we could but once again time has run out!  I really can't believe that Sunday is 1st September!!

From there we headed to Tiso at Inveralmond Industrial Estate and D finally found a hat that he  doesn't look ridiculous in  likes, to protect his head from the fierce Spanish sun when he's golfing next week.

Alan was home just before us.  He and Vickie had been to Blair Drummond, to visit the Lemur Park.  He loved it and the lemurs!  You're not allowed to take food or drink into the enclosure as the lemurs roam freely and apparently there are signs up warning you that they will climb on prams!  I think Alan was hoping one would sneak out with him!  :-)

No dinner for us as still full from lunch, just coffee and some crackers and cheese.  Tesco order done and dusted just in the nick of time!
