The Marching Spartans Take the Field

For the 2nd year in a row, we ventured to East Lansing, Mi. with Al and Shelley (Naturelover on Blip) to see their grandson Brody perform with his Michigan State bandmates. The problem? Brody never showed up. 

We didn't find out why, but one of the possible explanations is...Brody is the chief "mechanic", the fixer of all of the instruments in the band. With the first football game (and band performance) to be played tomorrow night...perhaps he is working.

In spite of their favorite alto sax player not being there, it was an enjoyable afternoon. Imagine bringing together the best high school musicians from across Michigan (and elsewhere) and putting them together on the same field. They sounded awesome.

Unfortunately, I don't think their football team this year will match the quality of their band. The "experts" pick them to be last in the Big Ten.

Also, always fun to be with Al and Shelley...plus we had a nice lunch at Raisin Canes, a chicken strip restaurant.
