My girl
It has been a real Spring day. 19C and sunshine. Delightful.
So naturally, I have been in the garden.
All the while I have been accompanied by a cacophony of birdsong. The loudest by far are the bellbirds, who spent much of the day chasing each other between trees and then landing on a branch and promenading proudly while staring at each other, in what I take to be part of their courtship.
A pheasant has been calling from the bushes a few metres the other side of the boundary. Silvereyes have twittered and flitted between flowers, escorted by insect-chasing Piwakawakas.
Magpies, blackbirds, thrushes, chaffinches, sparrows and dunnocks have added to the chorus. And in the background has been a persistent low hum of bumble- and honeybees which are massed on the blossoms smothering the feral plum trees just over the fence. Extra.
What a glorious concert as I weeded.
I regretted the lawnmower drowning out everything else for 40 minutes while I cut the main lawn for the first time this season, but it had to be done...
Meanwhile Bean snoozed in the sun, supervising in her own inimitable way. We had a photo session on the daffodil lawn, which she wasn't entirely committed to... Extra two.
What a day.
