Journalist papped
Our brother-in-law Richard arrived at Waverley railway station this afternoon for a long weekend in Edinburgh. I thought that it would be fun to secretly snap him stepping off the train. Richard works for a national newspaper that uses the work of paparazzi, so my action felt somewhat appropriate.
On his first evening with us, we took Richard to Friendly Friday drinks in our shared garden, toasted his arrival with vintage fizz, and feasted on tomato chilli chicken and individual summer puddings drenched in Kirsch (hic!) Then we all watched Mel C on Who do you think you are.
After the television programme I headed to bed (early), leaving Mr hazelh and Richard to chat in the sitting room - with a bottle of whisky between them...
I was very tired having started my day just after 4:00am when I woke, full of beans. The early start meant that while the rest of the world was fast asleep, I managed to complete several domestic duties without interruption: marmelising soup, organising the contents of our two freezers, unloading the dishwasher, and hanging out the washing when the sun eventually came up. My exercise today and the amount of steps that I have taken over recently have probably also contributed to my need for sleep.
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; pilates class; swim (30 lengths); walking (21,774 steps).
