AT THE MATCH

I went to the match this afternoon.  Newcastle were playing against Spurs.  There was a crowd of 52,211.  Newcastle sSored the first goal after 37 mins.  But Spurs equalised after 57 mins ( an own goal by a Newcastle player ). Newcastle weren't playing very well at all and at this stage it seemed like it was going to be a draw - or that Spurs would win. However Newcastle, against the run of play, Newcastle manged to get the winning goal on the 78th minute.  Final score Newcastle 2 Spurs 1.

The banners in my blip shot are for Sandro Tonali.  The midfielder was given a 10-month ban in October 2023 for placing numerous bets on football matches.  Whilst he was banned  he has still been training with the team as well as undergoing gambling rehabilitation..Over the 10 months he has been well supported by the Club as well as most of the fans.  His first game back in action after the ban ended was in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday - it was an away game so today was the first match he has played in front of the home fans.  So Wor Flags did a special display to mark the occasion.   Sandro wasn't in the starting line up but he came off the bench on the 68th minute. The chant from the crowd  was " Sandro, Olé, Olé, Olé " .

After the match I popped into Tesco for some salmon and fruit.  Bus home was packed but I got a seat.

Weather was mostly dull and not very warm and it started raining when I was waiting for the bus home.  When I got off the bus it was lashing down.  Luckily the bus stop is near my house so I didn't get too wet.

Steps today - 8,918
