Not as Easy as it Looks!
This is blipper EllyJay in her role of tutor in Lino Cutting to me. At times it must have seemed to her that she was doing time as a special needs tutor. It’s not easy to do linocutting as I found out to my cost. EllyJay was so patient and I was so cack handed but at the end of 2 hours I had several robins in various degrees of plumage which may or may not end up as Christmas cards with a bit of manual titivation. I may not have been her most talented pupil but I did enjoy myself a lot.
Having laughed off the presence of jellyfish at Porty and Stromness and eschewed wearing a stinger suit or leggings and a rash top, I got my comeuppance this morning when a resident Stromness jellie came looking for me and made sure I won’t ignore them again any time soon. Despite popping antihistamine pills and applying a liberal amount of cream to my leg and arm, I’m jumping around feeling a million little electrifying pin pricks target anywhere they fancy all over my body. I’m like a jack-in-the-box. It’s so tiring.
With the mist to sea levels shrouding the town and maybe the whole of Orkney, it’s hard to remember the last two sunny days. Hopefully they’ll be back soon, but musn’t complain- it’s still mild.
