Evening sunshine
A long morning at Fareshare (finished late, to get something done). As well as my admin jobs I sorted and listed an incoming bread delivery from Warburtons. Then a huge donation from Tesco customers, supplemented by the Tesco store (always generous with pasta and jars of pasta sauce). I need to turn this donation into nicely mixed and varied 10k trays of food - examining each item to weed out: things past their best before (you’d be amazed how often we get old stuff - people must take it to Tesco when they tidy their kitchen cupboards) , things with nuts, things with alcohol, things where ingredients and cooking instructions aren’t in English. And I do 5 other non food trays - period products, household cleaning, personal care (soap, shampoo, toothpaste) , pet food, and items for babies (mostly nappies). It takes a while (hence late finish) but it gives me great pleasure to create order out of chaos. And everything (once categorised and listed) goes out to people except the stuff that’s old, or not in English. Which us volunteers take home (at our own risk!) Things with nuts and alcohol are kept separate but some groups will want them.
I was quite tired in the afternoon and just pottered about. Realised it was a nice sunny evening after all the grey sky, rain, and humidity earlier. Went for a walk just around my area. This is a couple of streets away - I expect I’ve said before some bits of Bristol have colourful houses. I liked this because the sun was in the exact position where the shadows of the roofs opposite matched the lines between the houses. Taken at 6.30. Really noticeable how it’s proper dark by 8 here.
