Open to All
Feeling well enough for a bit of an outing today, we head to Llandudno for a light lunch in Oriel Mostyn. This arts space is a wonderful addition to the coastal town - though I must admit that many of the exhibitions are rather challenging in terms of their artistic content - probably no bad thing. If I’m honest, we visit primarily for the upper floor cafe and the ground floor shop which showcases the work of many Welsh artists and has wonderful jewellery and ceramics.
Architecturally, it’s a wonder of eclectic contrasts, with the elaborate Victorian brick entrance portico leading into the RIBA award brutalist interiors that I absolutely love. I’ve blipped the interior a few times, but today, it’s the entrance doorway that I’m featuring. The original structure is intact, but I’m sure at one time there would have been imposing wooden doors rather than the sliding glass doors that are in place today.
I love the sign that appears to the right of the doorway - and did try to use this as my thumbnail.
