A wet day
It has rained all day. I took Xena out first thing this morning in the hope that we would avoid the worst of the rain. Later in the afternoon we had thunder and heavy showers, it's been very wet.
I have been very impressed with the NHS today. This morning I phoned to make an appointment for an X Ray, and was lucky to get a cancelled appointment for this afternoon. I never even knew there was an X ray department at the old cottage hospital in Leatherhead, so that is very convenient for me.
I also saw a couple of missed calls on my phone, and thinking it was just a marketing call I ignored it, but after the 4th such missed call I thought I had better phone back. It was the hospital booking system following up on my GP's request for me to see a dermatologist. They had me on their system and asked me to phone the local day surgery in Cobham for an appointment, and when I phoned there they had already set up an appointment for me in just under 2 week's time, which I was very pleased about.
I then took Xena to the vet for her annual vaccinations and checks. The vet was delighted that Xena is now the perfect weight - she was 24.5kg on her last visit, and she now weighs a svelte 22kg. For her breed you should be able to see a few bones of the spine and ribs and you can now do that. I just hope she does not put on weight again in winter when her exercise is halved, as she does not get two walks a day due to the short days. I no sooner get back from her morning walk, wash all the mud off her, do a few things and then there is no time for a second walk before the day draws in.
I was meant to see a friend for coffee this afternoon but I had to cancel as the main TV in the TV room is not working - it's not the TV it is the connection to the smart home system - and the smart system engineer was coming out to fix it. He arrived this afternoon and had to manually reboot the system, and all is well once again.
I have just returned from getting my toe X rayed, all very efficient and I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes. I will wait to hear from the GP about the results.
Tonight I have a zoom meeting with Gill Moon, the photographer I spent Saturday morning with. She asked all of us who attended the session to submit three images to her, which we will discuss and critique and she will share editing advice for them.
Not the weather for photography today, this was the result of a hasty dash into the garden to photograph my dripping roses. I also booked another workshop for next year - it's only a short 3 day one with the brilliant Guy Edwardes in Dorset.
