Burgos Cathedral
It’s impossible to choose a single image represent Burgos in all its complexity, so here is one of the many facades of the cathedral. We spent 5 hours inside the cathedral this morning and could have spent another 5. There is so much to see!
We were glad of a break and found a lovely restaurant in a park near the river for a delicious 3 course lunch with wine for 24 euros each (why does everywhere seem such better value than England?).
We then went to an ancient Carthusian monastery on the edge of the city where monks still pray for the rest of us and lead a life of labour and silence. The air was perfumed by their own rose petals.
We declined dinner and instead went for a walk around the old city, but we did eventually have a glass of cerveza in a tavern next to the pilgrims’ hostel and listened to their tales of the Camino.
Forgive me, I’m not going to have the time or spare energy to comment on your journals until I get back next week.
