A longer e-bike trip
As I get into this e-biking again the trips get longer and harder. My previous trip to the wind turbines had been fun but I'd seen that the forest road led further into the forest to a second set of wind turbines. So that was today's destination.
I got up to them, but there were some very steep climbs, including one where I just couldn't keep going. Motor on highest setting and clicking down through the gears until I just ran out of oomph, and had to pause to rest, and then push the bike the last 50 m up the incline.
On the road home I was following a gravel road mainly used by those interesting in fishing. It goes past so many isolated lakes. Some are stocked by fishing clubs, others are completely natural. I know nothing about fishing but I do know there are various sorts of tasty trout and char in these lakes. A 24 hour fishing permit will set you back about £25, a year's permit will cost you about £100. Either way you get to sit in beautiful places like this and admire the view. There's always a ring of stones if you want to light a small fire and in this particular place there was even some firewood neatly stacked by the fireplace.
My battery lasted all the way round but the HIGH setting turned off when I was about 400 m from home, and the ECO setting allowed me a little help until I reached our cellar, whereupon the range indicator clicked onto ZERO! I was glad I'd turned the motor off on many of the flat sections and all the downhills!
This trip was 44 kms, and yesterdays was 22 kms, so a fully charged battery helped me do 66 kms. Four years ago when the bike and battery were new I did a 75 km trip so maybe there's been a little reduction in battery power, or maybe I was stronger and fitter four years ago!
