Indian Summer

How many people holidaying in Orkney towards the end of September would necessarily think to pack a sun hat, sun cream, anti midge spray, shorts and t-shirts? I certainly didn’t, but am happy to enjoy the undiluted sunshine for the two days this Mediterranean weather will probably last.

We swam at 9am this morning in a calm sea and it felt like a minor miracle for me to swim from the yellow buoy to the grey one and not worry that I wouldn’t manage to get back to the slip. The other selkies do a far greater distance but at least it’s an improvement on my part. It was so lovely in the water that there are plans to double dip if the clouds stay away and the moon shines on us.

A Selkie popped in for coffee after lunch and we whiled away an hour sitting in the garden in the sunshine.

I met up with the current Mrs Creel later and she drove me to Orphir for supper. I am being totally spoilt by the Cheeky Monkey Taxi Service Inc but as IainatCreel says I will float better on a full stomach when we try again later for a moonlight dip…….if we dip ‘cos the moon is hiding again now that clouds have rolled in. Watch this space…..
