View from the cab....

A misty ,damp start this morning, but it burned off by lunch time.
Kev still on hauling barley straw bales home from down the road.
I spent the morning filling more barley into the wet grain tower. It only holds 100 tons but it takes days to fill as our 1961 grain conveyors are on their very last legs and only do about 4 tons and hour, which was more than ample back then. A big trailer was 3 tons and a big combine had a 10 ft header.
A big trailer now can be 20+ tons and an average combine now has a 25 ft or 30 ft header, so our set up is well past it.
Headed off for a half hour rattle over Midlothian's pot holes again to bale wheat straw at Oxenfoord. Their combined has broken down so they are using a demonstrator one just now. It has tracks instead of the usual big front wheels.
By tonight I'd done about 250 bales . They were still cutting wheat, but the straw was too raw to bale behind the combine,so will need to hope it doesn't rain tomorrow.
