Slog
Woke very early but I managed to get back to sleep, and finally woke at 7.30am having the feeling I was in the midst of some very vivid and strange dreams. Of course I couldn't remember the detail though once I was properly awake!
Nipped up to the shop for bacon and bread so when T stopped off on his way to work I could make us breakfast (bread was sliced in a somewhat doorstep style mind you - we were all stuffed!). We chatted about a job option he's been exploring, although it sounds as if his research on it suggests it's not as good as he first thought. We'll see.
Once he'd gone to work I packed up and set off north to come home. It was still pouring with rain and the surrounding area is badly flooded. It didn't stop raining the entire drive home, and I listened intently the entire journey to Jenni Fagan's new book Ootlin, which is a somewhat harrowing and shocking account of her childhood in 'care', but told with great humanity and warmth for the lost young girl who no-one actually cared for. What with the rain and the story I was totally absorbed.
The journey went very smoothly until I got to Berwick where there was a hhuge accident on the A1. Luckily I saw what was ahead and diverted through the town and only lost about 40 minutes....I suspect the roads were closed or clogged much longer than that.
Lovely to be back in the flat, unpacked and cosy, and I put some washing on, watered the plants and did a bit of sorting myself out. So it's an EB of my rather gorgeous orchid...the first one I've ever managed to get a second flowering from.
