Gift
Some friends of ours who live in Dorset came for lunch today, along with their youngest daughter, who is my Goddaughter, and they presented me with these lovely roses. We’ve known the family since they moved to Woodford in 1982 when the husband was appointed Curate at All Saints’ Church.
They came up to attend the service of thanksgiving of a long-standing mutual friend and church member, and it was so good to see them. The service was uplifting, encouraging and full of joy, fondly remembering our friend’s amazing business drive and generosity of spirit. He was quoted as being a ‘serial entrepreneur’ by his son, because he not only ran several successful businesses but he always had multiple projects on the go, renovating buildings, improving things, helping people and always sharing the love of God as widely as possible.
We shall be seeing our Dorset friends again in November when they will come and stay overnight with us for the weekend of the church’s 150th anniversary. It will be good to have a bit more time for a catch-up chat then.
