Some Flowers by the Back Door

Lots of garden clean-up right now. Time to put in winter vegetables, which means everything else needs to go in the bin, which is now full. Temperature topped at 92 degrees this afternoon! I was not out in that heat, but worked from about 4 to 6 when it was nicer out. It’s not hard work, just a lot of it: trimming, gathering fruit, pulling up old plants—once you start you just keep moving along: finding stuff to do is easy at this time of year. Lucky we had dinner already made: ratatouille, itself a celebration of late summer with all those wonderful vegetables.
