Moving on Day

Woke at 5am to the most impressive thunder storm. We slept with the patio doors half open instead of air con so it was loud! Got back to sleep till 7:15, it so so peaceful here. Opened the doors and it was still pelting it down. We watched the Maison Blanche luxury yacht make its way through the inlet then stop and go back in. There was triangular shaped small cruise ship coming in. This is a great spot up the hill in the old town for watching the goings on in the bay.

We packed up and had a chat with Inez, she lives next door with her partner. She gave us a potted story of life now under the Euro (price rises but not wage rises - typical) . She told us too about the feral cats in her little neighbourhood how they belong to all the residents and they feed them and have had them spayed and neutered).

We walked down hill through the white stone narrow street (that are immaculate with no rubbish).

The next two nights are in a four star hotel directly below the apartment on the shore front. This has a breakfast included and is our wedding anniversary present as we usually go away but I had the hen weekend . The hotel is made out of stone of the old walls. We have a terrace with the comfiest of chairs. The rooms isn’t huge but the bed is so comfy. The bathroom is amazing and a huge shower. There is a mini bar which is free! (A variety of soft drink which is perfect for me a non alcohol drinker).

We were there at 11.00 am but our room was already prepared which was great as we unpacked (easy) and we weee off to climb up to one of three fortresses protecting the old town. This one is the best and they have adapted the middle of it to hold concerts. The views were beautiful. A high climb but totally worth it.

We were starving by now and looked at Inez’s list of recommendations and found a traditional Croatian restaurant that sounded perfect. It was tucked away in a small street in the old town . S had the chicken and I had the beef goulash. The bread was tasty and soft that accompanied it. Ohhhhh the flavours of the stew, it was so so good . The locals were having lunch so that’s a good indication of a tasty meal. I had a laugh at the lady of the restaurant sitting with the protective blue gloves on smoking a cigarette! We had no room for a pudding.

More walking up to see the triangular ship. We have the marine something g app that tells us everything about them where going and where been and age etc.

Went back to our room for a freshen up and a cuppa. And a sit in the balcony. Gave the hair a good wash in the amazing shower and felt much more clean. The weather has been a stead 24/25 for the week and haven’t needed jacket or a cardi (which I forgot to bring and was going to buy one here - no need).

Another walk. This time for gelato again to same place and sitting on the steps listening to the busker.

Back to hotel and sleeping by 9:15…..
