A day of IT issues and chores.
I need to log into my work laptop regularly and connect it to the work VPN so it can receive its security updates. Naughtily I ignored the last warning so when I tried today I was completely locked out. Luckily I could get hold of some colleagues and used their hive minds to find the best way to resolve the issue without physically taking my device in, a small adventure in it's own right at the moment as we've changed office locations while I've been off and I don't yet have access to the new building.
Once the Support Desk had been helpful for once * fixed things I left it to its own devices for a while while I sorted out exciting things like arranging a visit from someone to quote to replace my log burner, sent a sympathy card to a good friend who sadly lost his father while I was away, emailed my (new for now, but who used to be my boss a while ago) boss about something I need to do the day I return to work and generally sorted out my personal email inbox. Hopefully when I next try and start it up it will be ok..
*I don't really mean this, I used to manage a Help Desk a long time ago, it's a thankless task.
