The unrelenting social calendar of Ottawacker Jr.

Lovely weather, nice day. Following yesterday’s visit about a mole, I had to go to BioPed this morning for a visit about an ingrowing toenail and a possible verruca. I wasn’t looking forward to it at all, actually, as I’ve heard all sorts of horror stories about how painful ingrowing toenails can be. As it happens, it was very reasonable – and the nurse (the improbably called Bobbie-Alissa) was very pleasant and I only screamed once. Probably because they were neither a verruca or an ingrowing toenail. Anyway, a $65 well spent.

Went back and decided to take Ottawacker Jr. – who was on another PA Day from school – to lunch at Beijing Legend. He’d been out on the buses in the morning, and had probably treated himself to something at Tim Hortons… so he wasn’t that hungry. That was pretty much the last I saw of him. I took him to his friend Caelan’s for 2pm – and then they went from there to a birthday party and sleepover after that. He left, rucksack packed to the brim, sleeping bag in hand, as if he were heading to the North Pole for a major expedition.

Skyped friends in BC – all of whom are still suffering from Covid – and sympathised as best as I could. It is still everywhere – and with no vaccines readily available for a couple of weeks more, at least, we are walking a tightrope. In other news, Maggie Smith died today – quite sad about that as she was one of my favourite actors. We’re going to be in for a slew of these in the near future: McKellen, Dench, Kitchen et al. All of a similar age, all part of the golden age of British filmmaking. She was simply majestic in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.
