Between fen and mountains

The climbing vine

This morning I set about trimming the climbing vine which was sending out shoots all over the place. I was waiting until the end of the growing season and gave it a good trim. I then looked at the top of it and thought I could cut away a couple of thicker, branches to take it lower than the veranda. I was rather surprised that cutting through caused most of the vine to fall away so I had to trim it even harder. Now there are very few leaves on it at all. I am pretty sure it will grow back so I am not unhappy with the result. If I have killed it, I will not be sorry either as it grows prolifically and is difficult to keep on top of. In the afternoon I went to team tennis training which was hard and tiring. We have our first match at the weekend. As my partner, who is the same age as me, said, “I think they forget how old we are! “
