2000 yrs-old

Went for a walk to Ruperra Castle today. On the wooded hill above the castle is Motte that in the castle’s days was used as a viewing tower. Because of its high vantage point, it has a much longer history (see extra for the information board). In 200 BC, it was the site of an iron age fort. In Norman times, a small motte was built topped with a small fortress castle. In the last century it was topped by a thatched summer house. I hope this is sufficient history for the Wide Wednesday challenge theme “historica/part of a story” Many thanks to steveng for hosting
